Me and my Dad: My Contribution to Addiction Awareness Week 2023

So, it's been over a year since 2023 came to an end (Happy New Year!), yet, here I am sharing this link in 2025. I know, how awful of me.

Regardless, I am a child of an alcoholic - my Dad was alcohol dependent and that impacted my life at home when I was growing up. For Alcohol Awareness Week 2023, I gave my story to the National Association for Children of Alcoholics (NACOA) to share, and I share that same story here.

My Dad died in 2023 (which is what kicked me into becoming a more active volunteer for NACOA) but I'm, fortunately, in a good place now.

The aim of sharing this really isn't for my benefit. It's for those who are going through similar things to what I went through and need to be told that they're not alone. It's for those who have been through these things and need help in processing what they went through. It's even for those who are merely interested.

A link to it is here, so if you're interested, be my guest and take a read: https://nacoa.org.uk/experiences/me-and-my-dad/

Also, I'm entirely aware that I might come across as vain and perhaps self-important with sharing my story like this. Honestly, I'm not trying to be, but it is what it is (a phrase I increasingly dislike yet find too apt for this situation).
